Multifix KR fire retardant junction boxes maintain the wall’s fire rating. The boxes have fireproof seals that expand and protect against fire if the temperature rises beyond 120 degrees. In the event of fire, the hole on the wall is sealed completely, preventing fire and flue gases from spreading around the building through apparatus boxes. KR fire retardant junction boxes have been approved for walls rated EI30, EI60 or EI90. Normal KR nipples are used with fire retardant junction boxes.
