Thread-forming screws form threads in cast blind holes, through holes, drilled, lasered and punched holes in sheet metal parts. A thread-forming screw does not affect the structure of the material being fastened when it is screwed into it, unlike a self-tapping screw. The material moves out of the way and solidifies.

Benefits:

Saves costs

  • The thread does not cut

Non-cutting thread-forming

Low clamping forces and greater thread flank coverage

  • The TRILOBULAR shape of the screw core is combined with the thread’s flank radius profile

High clamping force

  • Thanks to low clamping forces

High load-bearing capacity

  • Thanks to the large thread flank coverage area

  • Reinforcing thread that forms in the connected material

Loss prevention (less chance of screw loosening)

  • Negligible clearance and self-locking tight thread

The formed thread corresponds to the standard metric thread

  • If necessary, the GEFU screw can be replaced with a screw with a metric thread.
Notice

The applicable application or component must be tested beforehand for compatibility with the thread-forming GEFU® screw. Please see standard DIN 7500-2 for reference values for correct initial hole diameter choice.
